The physical phenomenon of ‘Entanglement’ which occurs when a groups of particles share spatial proximity so much so that they cannot be told apart. We’ve combined our cultures in forms of footage, imagery and food to function together as a singular artwork.
Through extensive research and discussion we created a film composed of appropriated imagery gathered from archival footage, cinema and other forms of documentation with emphasis on exploring the biased perspective of the colonial or hierarchical “rulers” who commissioned and produced the footage.
Different cultures interact or share space together that it often seems like we cannot be distinguished separately, even over large distances. We function together in the present as a system occupying a table and becoming one. The project allowed us to re-examine the past events and shared thematic histories of our cultures.
We all belong to cultures drastically different yet we stand here on the common ground of brutality, Communism and Colonisation. The performative aspect of the piece which is embodied by the exchange of food and histories in a domestic setting contrasts the projected imagery which reminds us of the sacrifices made by our ancestors to continue the legacy of our cultures.
